When Did You First See Spirit?

I don’t remember when it began—I just always had a Spirit friend who stayed mostly in my bedroom. He was a middle-aged Indigenous man, likely of Cree origin, dressed in soft tanned skins. He would stand quietly by my closet, watching over me. We never really spoke, except that I once told him to turn around when I was getting changed. I was never afraid of him; to me, his presence felt natural.

He faded from my life as I entered my teenage years, but I’ve often thought about him since. I’d love to hear his story, so I plan to ask Francis, my gatekeeper, to see if he can reach him. Perhaps he will come through in trance, so that Rhonda can ask her wonderful questions. (If you’ve read our book, Our World and Beyond, you’ll know that Rhonda has a gift for drawing out Spirit’s life stories.) If we learn more, we’ll be sure to share it with you.

While some might find my first Spirit friend unremarkable, I always considered him just that—a friend. If you have a Spirit companion, we’d love to hear about them.
